Re: secondary vRA appliance can't join in cluster

The vcac-server service doesn't work in the secondary vRA appliance.

And also I can't start this service with the following message: "Property csp.host is set in /etc/vcac/security.properties, but is empty"

I didn't customize the secondary appliance just after ova file. I deployed the vRA appliance again but I faced the same error with this.

Re: View Planner 3.6 VMs will not Register IPs

Hi,

- You do not need to install AD agent anywhere, if you can't install it in on AD machine.

- Follow steps on user guide page 104, and in viewplanner webUI config tab provide AD ip as "127.0.0.1" and domain as "dummy".

- After creating AD group and users manually using steps in page 104, make sure your desktop pool has entitlement to use that group.

This should be done automatically by viewplanner when a run is started, but you can do it manually too, just to make sure.

- Once above is done you can try to login manually on this pool using a client and newly created user. if this works then viewplanner run should also work without any issue.

- Do not forget to provide same AD group name you created manually to viewplanner run profile.

- If this does not work, let me know with logs of AD agent and harness.

View 4.6 - recreate template from clone

$

Due to various one of our persistent clone pools lost it's master/base/template image.

Thinking I was smart, I created a clone of one of the clones, qucikprep'd it, renamed it, joined it back to the domain and re-installed the VMware View Agent.

Now, when clones are created from this VM, they retain the name. I can't find anything obvious in the composer logs, but I feel like I'm missing something rather fundamental.

View is creating the computer account, but the machine is maintaining it's link to the original computer account.

What would be the correct steps to rescue/recreate the template for this pool and where have I gone so horribly wrong?

Cheers,

Simon

Hi I'm having the same issue as well on a fresh install. Can't put my finger on it either.

Is there anyone who know the custom property improvement of vRA 7.1?

It's much appreciated if you could elaborate on the following:

Hi All,

We have recently deployed Linux desktops in Horizon 7 version 7.0. We are facing problem with display on multiple screens.

Desktop pool has been created as per the standard document. We want Linux desktop screen spanning should work on all the three monitors and its working fine on Red Hat Entp Linux server 6.6.; Kernel linux 2.6.32.-504..el6.x86_64; GNOME 2.28.2.

Once we have updated the Linux OS to 6.8 other two display are showing black. After OS update we have re-installed the view agent on the desktop but still its not working. Problematic system details.

Red Hat Entp Linux server 6.8; Kernel linux 2.6.32.-642.3.1.el6.x86_64; GNOME 2.28.2.

Thanks for your reply!

When I tried again this morning, it worked..with the last password I got when I reseted it, probably there were still some update tasks running or so...even I got the update completed mail and waited long time :-)

Thanks

So believe it or not, two minutes after posting my issue, I got it working

I did a couple of things that hopefully got it working.

1. just randomly went and ran X:\vCenter-Server\Packages\VCSServiceManager.msi to see if it ran, which it did (no errors)

(got this in the vminst.log)

2. Dropped my UAC settings from notify me when apps try to changes to my computer (Default) => Never notify me

3. Ran X:\vCenter-Server\VMware-vCenter-Server.exe as Administrator (even though I was an admin)

Good luck!

ESXi 5.5 и WNLB unicast

VDP - sequental backuping?

I need to make a backup copy of seven VM for one night. If I just make the job with these VM, they will be processed at the same time that strongly loads a host. Whether it is possible to specify that creation of backup copies shall be made sequentially?

What will do VDP if several tasks are assigned to the same time?

What will do VDP if one task isn't finished, and time to launch another came?

I would clarify it experimentally, but it is terrible to experiment with working system.

Again my friend I had it running for months with vmware player 12 on my windows 7 laptop it is possible.

Again my friend, while it's technical possible with third party tools, you still successfully violated the Apple EULA.

According to the VMware Terms of Service you will not get any help here for illegal activities.

If you run your commands as a script, you should output all of the columns in the first row, If you modify the first Import-CSV command into the following, it will work:

Import-Csv $csvfile | Foreach {  Get-VM $_.Name | Select Name, @{N="ESX Host";E={Get-VMHost -VM $_}},SpaceUsedGB,Datastore }

If you do the Import-CSV only once, your script will run faster. For example, you can use the following code, stripped down to the relevant part:

$VMs = Import-Csv $csvfile | Foreach { Get-VM $_.Name }

$VMs | Select Name, @{N="ESX Host";E={Get-VMHost -VM $_}},SpaceUsedGB,Datastore

$VMs | Select Name, @{n="SpaceUsedGB"; e={[math]::round( $_.UsedSpaceGB )}}

$VMs | Select Name, @{N="Datastore";E={$_ | Get-Datastore}}

Then in this case, you must select objects + metrics in the metric chart configuration. You will have a static widget.

Hey,

you can either split the VMs into different backup jobs with different starting times or reduce the number of VMs processed at a time in the proxy settings as mentioned by Stefan.
